Why I Became a Physical Therapist

I became a physical therapist because I wanted to provide the kind of care I wish I had received earlier in my own athletic career.

As an athlete, I experienced firsthand what happens when rehabilitation focuses on simply getting you through the immediate problem rather than fully restoring your ability to move, perform, and handle the demands of your sport.

I went through rehabilitation in a more traditional, high-volume environment where I didn't receive the level of individual attention I needed. Although I was able to get back to activity, I never fully regained my mobility and movement capacity.

Over time, those unresolved limitations contributed to additional injuries and eventually multiple surgeries.

Later in my athletic career, I had the opportunity to work with a physical therapist who provided something I hadn't experienced before: true one-on-one attention. Instead of simply treating the diagnosis or following a predetermined protocol, this therapist took the time to understand how I moved, identify what was actually limiting me, and build my rehabilitation around me.

That individualized approach ultimately helped me avoid yet another surgery.

It was one of the experiences that convinced me that physical therapy could—and should—be different.

Why I Started Anchor PTP

After working in traditional healthcare environments, I became increasingly frustrated by being forced to practice within systems that compromised my ability to give patients the care they deserved.

I started Anchor Physical Therapy & Performance to create the type of environment I believe physical therapy should be:

One-on-one. Individualized. Evidence-informed. Focused on the person—not just the diagnosis.

The goal isn't simply to help you feel better temporarily. It's to identify what is limiting you, restore the mobility and capacity you need, and progressively build your ability to handle the demands of the activities you care about.

Whether you're trying to return to your sport, get back to training, overcome a nagging injury, or simply become stronger and more capable, I want to give you the same level of individualized care that made such a difference in my own life.

Outside of the clinic, I'm a husband and dad of three. My family and I live in the Granger area, and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to serve the community where I live.

My Approach

I believe that rehabilitation and performance shouldn’t exist in separate worlds.

I graduated from Indiana University with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2021. While in PT school, I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in 2020.

Since graduating, I've worked in sports medicine and fitness environments, working with active individuals, recreational and collegiate athletes with goals ranging from getting out of pain to returning to competition and performing at a high level.

I've continued to pursue advanced education throughout my career. I'm board-certified in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS), certified in dry needling, and have advanced training in manual therapy and exercise prescription for athletes.

Maybe more important than anything else, I've experienced the frustration of being injured. I've experienced rehab that didn't fully address the problem. I've experienced the uncertainty of wondering whether surgery is really necessary. And I've experienced the difference that having a clinician who truly listens, thinks critically, and gives you individual attention can make.
